COMPETITION ENTRY RULES FOR THE 6TH BENICÀSSIM INTERNATIONAL PRIZE FOR TRAVEL LITERATURE 2010

 

literatura_de_viajes_20101 "Travel literature" in the context of this competition encompasses not only accounts of journeys which take place in a specific time and geographical location, but also experiences of all kinds – interior journeys – which a writer might contribute related to their emotional, mental, or intellectual trials and tribulations. Texts of a non-literary nature are strictly excluded from this competition.

2 Works entered into this competition must be original and unpublished, and may be written in either of the two official languages of the Community of Valencia. Texts can also be entered in any other language, in which case it is mandatory to attach a copy in one of the two official languages of the Community of Valencia, in which the story will be published should it win the competition. The subject matter of texts is unrestricted.

3 Texts must have a tagline and be accompanied by a closed fold. The outside of the fold must bear the tagline of the text, while the inside must feature the title of the work, a contact telephone number, name and address of the author, as well as a signed declaration stating that the work does not violate any publishing rights of any publishing house, and that it is not pending an award corresponding to any other competition. Original texts must be sent bound and in triplicate to the following address: Ayuntamiento de Benicàssim, Casa de Cultura, C/ Metge Segarra,4, 12560 Benicàssim (Castellón), marked with the name of the prize (VI Premio de Internacional de Literatura de viajes, 2010)

4 The original text must be of a minimum length of 130 A4 pages and a maximum of 200 A4 pages, with body text in Arial font, size 12, with spacing of 1.5 lines and printed on one side only.

5 Each author may submit the works that he/she deems appropriate.

6 Originals must be submitted to Benicàssim Town Council before 1 October 2010

7 First prize awarded for this competition is of €6,000 euros and the publication of the text in one of the two essay collections published by Brosquil publishing house.

8 The judging panel will comprise three renowned writers or critics from the literary world, one representative of Brosquil publishing house and the mayor or a representative of the mayor.

9 The judges decision will be made public in November 2010.

10 The original copies submitted to the competition will not be returned.

11 In the event of any unexpected circumstance not covered by these competition rules, the judges' decision will be final.

12 The act of entering this competition denotes agreement with these competition rules.
