The Greenway is a coastal cyclist route that shows us a rough, natural section of the coastline connecting the tourist towns of Benicàssim and Orpesa. It has been prepared by the Ministry to form part of the greenway network suitable for cycling and walking. The start of the greenway can be accessed from both towns. From Benicàssim you need to go into town and take avenida Jaume I (it runs parallel to the coast between villas and other buildings) and follow signs for Orpesa along the coast. At the end of Avenida Jaume I, you come to a coastal road crossed by the railway and here on the left you will see a sign for the Hotel Palasiet. Around the hotel there is an parking area among the pine trees, and the greenway starts very nearby, in the north of Benicàssim.
The route between Benicàssim and Orpesa is 5.5 km there and another 5.5 km back, or a total 11 km which can be done easily in 1 h 30' with stops. The first part crosses a small tunnel at km 1, and passes near the first watchtower at km 1.5 on a beautiful cliff over the sea, where there is a rest area and viewpoint. The path runs amidst valleys and open areas with views of the sea until km 4, where you enter a long tunnel (some 300 m; be careful, since sometimes the tunnel’s lights do not work and bike or headlamps are required). After passing this long tunnel, you come to km 5 where you will find Orpesa port and sailing club, and from there 500 m remains to reach the first buildings in Orpesa (km 5.5), and it is possible to go down to the seafront where there are games areas and beach bars.
